Trick or Treat – Birds of a Feather – is the first part of my series of Catalogue Sample Recipes. The purpose of this is to supply you with more detail on what products were used to create the gorgeous inspirational photographs you can see in your Stampin’ Up! catalogues. And if I actually own the products used in a Recipe/Project, I will include full tutorial instruction for you. Where I don’t own the product, I will take my best guess at how to create it.
Trick or Treat – Birds of a Feather
Wouldn’t this little cutie be perfect for a kiddies Trick or Treat party. And if you remove the ‘trick or treat’ sentiment, you could replace it with something suitable for other occasions. Simply as a little surprise treat for kiddies, or a kiddies pirate themed birthday party! Don’t restrict yourself to ‘single use’. With a little imagination you can stretch the potential for your craft materials.

Yes, I can hear you shouting ‘but the duck is holding a pumpkin lantern!’. No worries! Just use the ‘marker to stamp technique’ to leave out the lantern. Easy peasy!
Marker to stamp technique
Take your marker (brush end) and apply ink to the areas of the stamp that you wish to use. Use the markers sideways on, as shown above, rather than using the tip of the marker.
In this instance I’m using a stamp from the ‘Over The Moon’ stamp set, but in relation to the ‘duck stamp’, you would use your marker to colour in the areas of the stamp with the duck image, but leave out the lantern.
Tip: in stamps that are solid (rather than line images) you could also use this technique to add additional colours to a single stamp image. You can tell which stamps are ‘solid’ images, in the catalogue, because they are pictured in solid black rather than just a black line.
Isn’t this just a gorgeous little project! Try it out for yourself.
