Can you believe that June is here already! Where is this year going? It must be my age – days roll on much too fast. 🙂 Of course June bring Father’s Day so I’ve been having some alcohol marker fun with todays’ 3 cards. Oh and there’s a ‘colour block’ card too just to throw something different in. I should mention that the colour block in this case was inspired by Brian King. It beautifully showcases all the new 2019-2021 In Colors. If you don’t know what these are then click HERE to find out more. And the great news is …. all these new colours will be available to you from 4th June! Yay!
Alcohol Marker Fun
Now I’m no great expert with Alcohol Markers, which is why I love to use the Stampin’ Blends Markers. I find them much easier to use than other similar products on the market currently as I only need a light and dark to create perfect blending and I also find there is less ‘colour bleed’. At least that’s my experience anyway. I find using these markers stress free and fun and I always end up with a beautifully coloured project.
Experiment With Colours
Experiment by blending light and dark shades of the same colour or by blending colours with similar hues.
The markers have a thin end and a brush end. So they’re so easy to use. There are 36 beautiful colours to choose from plus there are fabulous skin tone markers ‘Ivory’ and ‘Bronze’. And there’s a Color Lifter too which is great for correction and for blending and stippling. You are going to just love these!
Check them out!
Stampin’ Blends can be purchased individually in Light or Dark shades or in Colour Combo sets of both Light and Dark shades.
And at £4.25 for a single or £8.50 for a Combo set, the cost isn’t going to break the budget.
Fathers Day
It’s wonderful when you have someone that you can truly rely on to be there for you. That’s something definitely worth celebrating. So of course, on 16th June we will be celebrating Father’s Day. Sadly my dad has passed away and he was indeed a wonderful man. However I have to say that I’m very blessed to have my wonderful husband as he is my friend and my rock. So I dedicate today’s cards to my lovely man and I will celebrate himself on Father’s Day. I might even buy him some chocolates as he’s such a chocoholic. I’d better get share! 😉
A Good Man
So today I’m going to showcase a really beautiful stamp set – A Good Man.
Aren’t these stamps just lovely. They bring back so many memories. And what about those sentiments? ‘Being a good DAD starts with being a good MAN’. I just love them.
Here is some inspiration directly from the catalogue.
Let’s get started!
The cards are UK A6
DSP = Designer Series Paper
Card One – Child on shoulders
This card will be sent by my grandson
Can you remember riding on your dads’ shoulders? I can. It seem soooo high! I think that’s why I fell in love with this image. But it also reminds me of times when my husband used to carry our grandson on his shoulders. He couldn’t do it now as the boy has grown so tall already.
- Cardbase – 10.5cm x 29.6cm scored and folded and 14.8cm
- DSP – 9.5cm x 13.8cm
- Basic Black mat – 7cm x 10cm
- Calypso Coral mat – 6.5cm x 9.5cm
- Whisper White artwork – 6cm x 9cm
- Whisper White insert – 9.5cm x 13.8cm
- Scraps for sentiment
Card Two – Child in arms.
This card will be sent by my granddaughter
And this makes me think of my man carrying our sleepy granddaughter in his arms. She could just about still be carried this way now but she’s growing so quickly too. They don’t stay small kiddies for long do they.
- Cardbase – 10.5cm x 29.6cm scored and folded and 14.8cm
- DSP – 9.5cm x 13.8cm (this one is simply the reverse side of the above DSP)
- Basic Black mat – 6cm x 10.3cm
- Calypso Coral mat – 5.5cm x 9.8cm
- Whisper White artwork – 5cm x 9.3cm
- Whisper White insert – 9.5cm x 13.8cm
- Scraps for sentiment
Card Three – Colour Block
and this card will be from me, to my great guy!
This is a super simple but striking card using colour blocks of the new In-Color cardstock. I think this style is just wonderful, particularly for masculine cards however it would make stunning feminine cards too with the right colours and images.
I used the 2019-2021 In-Color A4 Cardstock pack. This is a great way to check out new colours. You get 4 A4 sheets of each new colour so you get 20 sheets in a pack. And you can also get this in 12″ x 12″ cardstock too. If you find you like a particular colour then you can invest in the single colour A4 cardstock where you get 24 sheets per pack. And by the way, this applies for the 2018-2020 cardstock too. Of course, it’s so easy to coordinate your colours as there is a whole range of matching inks, ribbon, embellishments, paper etc. I’ve found this a much more cost saving way of purchasing as I never purchase something that isn’t already coordinated and ready to create with.
