Fussy Cutting – Easy Party Hat Greetings Card

When did our days become so busy! Since I left my full time job my life seems to have got busier and busier. So I just love my craft time. It’s my time to chill out and relax a bit. And some days I even like to take it super easy at that. And this little fussy cutting project shows how you can make a gorgeous little card without any stress at all. How simple can it get.

Look at those bright, gorgeous colours. And who doesn’t love a party hat!

So if you’re having a busy time of late, park what you’re doing for half an hour, get your stamps out and make something really simple. And fussy cutting is so therapeutic. If you’ve got the Better Together stamp set then I can show you quickly how I made this. If you haven’t got it, then clickΒ HEREΒ to check it out. πŸ™‚ It’s fab.

With 19 super little red rubber stamps it covers so many occasions, for example; new arrival, sympathy, wedding, Christmas, birthdays and more. And if you order it now you could plan your chill out time for this time next week and enjoy making this little card for yourself. Actually, make two, one to give away and one to keep. πŸ˜‰

Take your Whisper White cardstock and stamp party hat using Tuxedo Black inkpad. Allow a couple of seconds to dry then colour in to your hearts content using your favourite Stampin’ Write Markers.Β

Once you’ve coloured all your little party hats, then your can sit and cut them out. I like to take the side of a marker and run it along the cut edge of cardstock to take away the white. It really makes a difference. Try it and see.

Colouring and fussy cutting reminds me of spending hours and hours in my childhood with colouring books or my weekly comic (Bunty).

Here I could fussy cut out the doll and the doll’s clothes. I just loved this. Happy memories. πŸ™‚

Don’t forget to keep in mind your Rule of Thirds when designing our card layout. As you can see I’ve the sentiment sitting in the top right third and the row of hats sitting along the bottom third of the card front. I always keep my vellum Rule of Thirds template to hand. It takes the guess work out of card design.

I kept my card front very simple. Simply doing a little scoring with my Scoreboard then matting Whisper White card strip up on to Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock just set the background nicely for the perfect little party hats. And there you go. Simple and easy, fussy cutting party hats. Don’t you just love them!

And of course if you wanted to get really fancy, you could add little pom poms to the hats. I decided to save mine for Christmas Hats lol. πŸ™‚ What would be your preference? With or without pom pom? Leave answer below in comments.

So I hope you’ve enjoyed this short, simple post today and remembered how much fun fussy cutting is.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Until next time
