Watercolour Effect Waterfront

This stamp set really is wonderful. The watercolour effect you get with the Waterfront stamp set is just amazing. You really will impress with this one!

First I just played with the stamps a little to get the feel for them. I created the little watercolour Eclipse Card as this technique is so popular at the minute and I’d not tried it myself before. This is using the most basic stamping with the Waterfront Stamp Set and look how fab it is, with no effort at all. 🙂

I very quickly became comfortable with the stamps so I started playing about a little more with layout. See my second card, below. And I can tell you it was amazingly easy to achieve this watercolour effect. Yes! It really was!

You should have seen the faces on my Craic & Crafting Class ladies last night when I presented this second card to them and told them they were going to do a watercolour and this was one of the evenings projects. They loved the card but terrified of trying to do it, being convinced that it was beyond their skill set. Of course it wasn’t as the stamp set cleverly does all the beautiful watercolour effect for you so they were soon proved wrong I’m happy to say, and they left the class absolutely thrilled with their Make & Takes.

Keeping in mind the ‘rule of thirds’ I positioned the hills in the top third of the card and created a horizon line to work from. Once I’d determined where the line of sight was to be drawn, the rest was easy. Mounting it on a plain Whisper White cardbase appealed to me most and I was so delighted with how it turned out. What do you think of it?

I will be playing with this much more over the coming days. This stamp set really appeals to me and I’m considering offering an online class or tutorial for it if I can come up with enough variations to do so. If you’re interested, do leave a comment below.

In the meantime I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and that it has inspired to you go create your own.
